Episode One: Moving In
CORE inconspicuously flew into the base using its
secret entrance. He was coming back from looking for whatever monster had done
so much harm to the city. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful and came back only
because he needed to recharge. Out of habit, if robots had habits, he scanned
the room as he walked in. Strangely, there was a heat signature. CORE went over
to the signature and found the Ace of Spades lying on the base’s couch.
“What are you doing here?” CORE's electronic voice
asked.
“Am I not allowed to be here?” she asked.
“You are allowed.” He paused then continued, “How did
you know where the base was?”
“Emerald found me when I was on patrol and told me
about it when they finished it last month. Which one’s my room?” she asked.
“The first room on the right is empty.”
Ace picked herself up from the couch and went into the
room CORE had indicated. CORE was about to go to his room to plug himself in,
but a knock caused him to change his course. CORE brought up the outdoor
cameras on his visor to see who was at the entrance.
CORE opened the door and Emerald walked in. Over her iconic
frictionless green suit, she was also wearing a stylish dark green leather jacket.
It would have slowed her down while she ran, but she didn’t need as much speed when
she wasn’t fighting.
“I’m sorry about what happened,” she said before
realizing she was sympathizing with a robot.
“Ace is here,” CORE told her after Emerald blushed
slightly and he figured out that she wanted to express sympathy to someone.
Emerald's eyebrows came together in confusion. CORE
pointed to the Ace’s room and Emerald walked over to it. She was about to knock
when the handle jiggled and locked from the other side. Emerald knocked anyway
but there was, of course, no answer.
“Okay,” she said turning to CORE, “Is there anything
you need?”
“Ch-charge,” CORE replied before slowly walking to his
room.
“Alright, Metaclash and I will be over tomorrow,” she
said before walking back out the door and speeding away.
Ace walked out of her room and into the kitchen to
look for food once Emerald had left. She didn’t find any. Right, she
thought.
She looked in CORE's room and saw him charging amoungst
all of the computers and wires in his room. She went back towards the couch.
She picked up her motorcycle helmet from the couch and went out the secret
door.
CORE was fully charged by the time she returned. She
carried her groceries to the counter and set them down. She began to put the
groceries away and CORE came over to help.
The Ace of Spades kept her armor on while she was around CORE. The armor was almost completely black kevlar and carbon fiber. She had a
utility belt, her mask, and her hood. She wore gloves and tall boots. Not one
bit of the human under the armor could be seen.
“Emerald said that she and Metaclash will come over tomorrow,”
he said.
“Yea, I heard,” she replied.
“What made you come today?”
“Well CORE, I don’t have a house anymore.”
The robot just stood there for several moments,
processing. Ace was about to turn away when CORE moved slightly.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
Ace nodded her head and returned to her room. CORE
decided to go do some more rounds around the city to see what he could find.
